Police today charged a Captain Cook man with five offenses after a car and other items were stolen from a home in Kailua-Kona.

Police today charged a Captain Cook man with five offenses after a car and other items were stolen from a home in Kailua-Kona.

On Sunday, a 2004 Audi sedan was stolenn from a locked garage at a home on the 73-4300 block of Halemau Street. Other items were also taken, police said.

On Monday, a Kona patrol officer saw the Audi at a home on the 85-4500 block of Mamalahoa Highway in Captain Cook. Police recovered the car and arrested 21-year-old Kolton Bannister.

At 10 a.m. today, detectives charged Bannister with driving a stolen vehicle, burglary, unauthorized possession of personal confidential information and two counts of theft. His bail was set at $6,750.

He remains at the cellblock until his initial court appearance scheduled for Thursday.
